So you are about to finish the first week in this year's AVID class.  Please, take a few moments to browse this website (invite your parents to do the same) & leave some feedback here or in the feedback link.  The website is still getting off the ground but you will be able to use it as a forum throughout the year.

Freshmen:  Let me know what questions you have about the class...

Sophomores:  Feel free to respond to the questions of your classmates or ask me questions about what to expect this year.

Also, if you have suggestions about the website feel free to contribute.  Invite your parents to ask questions or offer suggestions as well.

Well, the new school year is about to begin.  I just got back from San Diego.  I attended a week-long training on AVID...so I've got lots of ideas & strategies to bring back to class.  I am also very excited about the addition of Ms. Guerrero to the AVID Site Team.  She will be teaching the 11/12th grade AVID class.  We are both dedicated to making CapAVID grow & become an integral part of the Capuchino community.

Can't wait to get started!

    Mr. Letke

Mr. Letke is entering his second year as an AVID teacher & his first as the AVID Coordinator.  He also served as an AVID tutor back in San Diego before his teaching career.

Mr. Letke has been teaching social studies at Capuchino for 4+ years & prior to that he taught three years in East Palo Alto.

He graduated from San Diego State University in 1999 & earned his teaching credential from the same institution in 2000.

His favorite sporting teams are the 49ers, A's, LA Kings, Warriors, & Glasgow Rangers.  His favorite athlete growing up was Ronnie Lott.

Mr. Letke has a passion for good music.  His favorite musicians include the Rolling Stones, Velvet Underground, Bob Dylan, Primal Scream, and endless others.  His favorite group growing up was the Beastie Boys.

His hobbies include collecting records & reading.

Mr. Letke is married to his college sweetheart & has two children, Leilani & Dylan.
